PBS KIDS Talk About: Race and Racism, is a half-hour special produced for the PBS KIDS broadcast channel, all their streaming platforms and the PBS KIDS Video App.

The show features authentic, age-appropriate conversations between children and their parents about race and racial justice-related topics, such as noticing differences in race, identifying racism and embracing our roles in standing up for ourselves and each other.

This special is an evolution of the previously online-only Talk About series, for which Cerebral Lounge provided editorial services earlier this Spring.

It is hosted by the Inaugural National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman and also features content from PBS KIDS series Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Arthur.

We adapted to today’s challenges by providing real-time remote editing sessions for the bulk of the project. As we approached picture-lock and the finishing stage, we successfully hosted in-person sessions using a separate suite setup, which allowed us to adhere to CDC Covid-19 safety procedures.
